CSPP’s Marriage and Family Therapy programs, at both levels, have a long and storied history of faculty that have passed through its doors to relay their knowledge to a new generation of therapists. For the last 50 years, this program has worked to produce some of the best marriage and family therapists and some of the most-respected thought leaders the field has seen since the program’s inception. From 1969 to today, the MFT program has worked toward making families in California, and around the world, the best they can be.

What is the career outlook for graduates of the PsyD in Marriage and Family Therapy program?
Marriage and Family Therapy is one of the fastest-growing fields in psychology today. Graduates of our doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy degree program often work in outpatient care centers, inpatient care centers, hospitals, schools, social services for local, state, and federal governments, substance abuse centers, and private practices. They can also open their own practice or go into fields related to law, corrections, the military, churches and religion-based fields, and employee relations and benefits for companies both big and small.

What is the dissertation process for this program?
You may begin work on the dissertation at any time, though formal approval of the dissertation and proposal requires Advancement to Candidacy and registration in the dissertation course. So, while you may work with faculty before that time, they will not be able to schedule a proposal meeting until you are registered in the dissertation course and Advanced to Candidacy. Most of your formal dissertation courses will be taken during the fourth and fifth years in the program.
When does the PsyD in Marriage and Family Therapy program start?
